# How guidance works when you build it yourself

## You build it yourself. We are *by your side*.

Building workflows, agents or a site on Gen8 always starts with a conversation. We then set up the platform together, review what you build and help when you get stuck.

## From first conversation to *your own management*

1. IntroductionWe discuss what you want to build, for whom and whether doing it yourself is the best route. Sometimes the honest answer is that we should configure it for you.
2. Kickoff sessionWe take the first steps together: your environment, first integrations and an initial workflow for a process you know well.
3. Platform setupMembers, permissions and integrations belong to your own organisation. We record who may do what and who approves.
4. Review and supportWe review before anything goes into production. Afterwards we help with questions, changes and new integrations.

## Who does what

You know the work; we know the platform. The division below is the starting point. We agree for each engagement what you want to do and where you prefer our help.

## What we check before *going live*

A review is not an inspection afterwards. We look at the points where workflows most often go wrong in production: permissions, control, logging and management.

The four review questions

- Does the workflow see no more than the user it acts for?
- Is each action set to read only, propose with approval or automatic with logging?
- Does the log show what was read, proposed and approved?
- Is it agreed who updates it when a system changes?

## Frequently asked questions about guidance

Can I also sign up directly and start myself?

No. Building it yourself always starts with an introductory meeting. That lets us understand what you want to build and configure your environment around what you need.

Do I need programming skills?

Not for the design: you define the assignment, tools, knowledge and review points. An integration that does not yet exist does require technical knowledge, or help from us.

How long does guidance take?

That depends on what you build and how much you already know. We agree the process after the introductory meeting.

What if I would rather have you take over?

That is possible. Gen8 also operates as a managed service: we configure, connect and manage, and you decide what happens.
