Integration · route: native
For organizations using Google Workspace, most work is already within reach: email, folders, documents and calendar. Gen8 has its own integrations for those components, allowing a workflow to read them and prepare proposals within the scope an administrator defines.
At a glance
Route: native
Components: Gmail, Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, Google Calendar
Capabilities
Gmail. Search the mailbox, read messages, manage labels and prepare drafts. Sending is technically possible but disabled by default in our setup: an email sent on your behalf should be deliberate.
Drive. Search and read files in designated folders as answer sources or input for the next step.
Docs, Sheets and Slides. Beyond the file itself: read and edit content. Build a report, update an overview or assemble slides from data obtained elsewhere.
Calendar. Read calendars and appointments and propose or create an appointment — useful when a workflow ends with a conversation to schedule.
Inspiration
A few examples of work you can hand over through this integration. We work out what fits your organisation together during scoping.
A mailbox question is read and a draft prepared. Sending remains your action.
The workflow searches your designated folders and answers with a file reference.
Data from elsewhere becomes a readable Google Docs report. You see the change before it is final.
An overview requiring weekly updates receives new rows or values in Google Sheets.
Google Slides built from figures and text already stored elsewhere.
If a workflow ends with a conversation to schedule, an appointment is prepared as a calendar proposal.
Permissions and data
An administrator configures the connection per component with only the permissions selected actions need. A workflow using Drive as knowledge requests no mailbox access; one writing drafts requests no send permissions.
Scope within a component matters as much as the component itself: a designated label is not a whole mailbox, nor a folder a whole Drive. We define scope during setup rather than stretching it until things work easily. Gen8 processes in the EU; Google processes in its own environment under your Workspace agreements.
Control
Reading happens without intervention; that makes a workflow useful. Writing starts as a proposal: a draft ready in Gmail, a document change visible before it is final, a calendar appointment proposed rather than silently inserted.
Proven actions with small, reversible consequences can run automatically with logging after a settling-in period. Email sending is not included; that is a choice, not a temporary limitation.
Evidence
Gmail, Google Drive and Google Calendar each have their own Gen8 integrations; Drive also has separate Google Docs, Sheets and Slides tools. Hence the native route: these components are reached directly. For partly Microsoft environments, see Microsoft 365 and the comparison in Google Workspace or Microsoft 365.
Prepare an answer sourced from Drive
Technically yes, but it is disabled by default in our setup. Preparing a draft is the starting point; a person sends it.
Only the folders you designate. That scope is part of setup, not a setting that quietly expands later.
The integrations are set up for a business Workspace environment with an administrator who connects them. A personal account lacks that management layer.
That is common and no problem. Outlook, SharePoint and OneDrive have their own integrations; see Microsoft 365.
